Airforce Condor .20cal

Postby Saxon » Sun Nov 04, 2012 11:15 am

Ok so I once owned a Airforce Condor that was bought secondhand from a chap down in Cape Town....I LOVED IT! and could kick myself after selling it! Then I stumble upon a site called Helber http://www.helber.co.za and they sell the Airforce air rifle new! Not only is it professional service but the prices are something to write about, to give you a example a PCP pump costs R3500 "Hills Pump" the Airforce pump, made by Hills goes for R1850 (as per the Airforce website). So I walk out of Helber with New Airforce Condor .20cal, Silencer, Fill Station, Quick fill adapter, attachment rail and Airforce scope mounts for the total sum of.......R9851 That is one SIC price for what you are getting!

The Airforce rifles are probably one of the most customizable rifles on the market today! If you have a look at Talon Tunes http://www.talontunes.com/ You name it the Americans make it "I Love it!"
From custom stock butts to top hats, quick fill adapters etc!

So yesterday I spent some quality time with the Condor topped her with a XD Optics 10-40x50 IR scope, did a o-ring mod and polished the top hat. These are some of the strings I did yesterday, this rifle is very accurate and is made in such a way that you are not worried about bumps and scrapes when taking it to the veld for a day. @28fpe it looks like I should get around 80 good shots! Not bad ne!!

Chrony strings
Partly sunny, 16C, 2051m asl, JSB 13.7's
NO O_RING MOD
One shot out the box @full power on power wheel 200bar fill
1476fps

Power set all the way down, 200bar fill
1158fps
1151fps
1144fps
1139fps
1124fps
1126fps
1123fps
1126fps
1130fps
1124fps

Now, Top hat polished and o-ring mod in, power wheel all the way down, 200bar fill.
808fps
836fps
843fps
852fps
860fps
861fps
861fps
855fps
873fps
862fps

Power wheel set @2.5
955fps
961fps
943fps
952fps
957fps

Think I am happy with this and will keep her running in the 900's for my application.
Make sure the chrony is min 6 to 10ft from the front of the muzzle, it makes a huge difference!

JSB 13.7
But have done a few mods to bring the power down, so will do more over the chrony and see what happens, I want it running at a constant 900 to 950 fps. Also I need to drop the scope, it's a XDOptics 10-40x50.....not very good more a entry level scope.

Yup , they can be full of nonsense . The 925 fps is a good speed setting in general with those pellets . Alternate , try crossmans around 1050fps ...looking forward to what transpires

Ok made a few changes.
a) Swopped out the XD Optics scope for a MTC Viper 3-12x44
b) Condor now running at 960fps
c) Distance 60m

BOOM I AM HAPPY!
